"നിയമ സഭ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ പ്രവാസി വോട്ട്" എന്ന വാര്‍ത്ത ഡിസംബര്‍ 2 പത്രത്തില്‍ വായിച്ചു. സാധാരണ വോട്ടര്‍ പട്ടികയില്‍ പേര് ചെര്‍ക്കാള്ളത്‌ ചില പ്രത്യേക സമയങ്ങളില്‍ മാത്രമാകുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ നിലവിലുള്ള സംവിധാനത്തില്‍ ആ സമയത്ത് നാട്ടിലുള്ള പ്രവാസികള്‍ക്ക് മാത്രമേ വോട്ടര്‍ പട്ടികയില്‍ പേര് ചേര്‍ക്കുവാന്‍ കഴിയുകയുള്ളൂ.
പ്രവാസികള്‍ വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ എപ്പോള്‍ ലീവ് കിട്ടുന്നുവോ അപ്പോഴായിരിക്കും നാട്ടില്‍ വരിക. പ്രവാസികള്‍ എപ്പോള്‍ നാട്ടില്‍ വന്നാലും വോടെഴ്സ്‌ ലിസ്റ്റില്‍ പേര് ചേര്‍ക്കുവാനുള്ള സംവിധാനം ഒരുക്കിയാല്‍ മാത്രമേ പ്രവാസി വോട്ടവകാശം എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഉപയോഗപെടുതുവാന്‍ സാധിക്കു.
പ്രവാസികളുടെ പേര് വോടെഴ്സ്‌ ലിസ്റ്റില്‍ ചേര്‍ക്കുവാനുള്ള സംവിധാനം ഇലക്ഷന്‍ കമ്മീഷന്‍ ഒരുക്കുമ്പോള്‍ വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ എല്ലാ പ്രവര്‍ത്തന ദിവസിങ്ങളിലും പ്രവാസികളുടെ പേര് വോടെഴ്സ്‌ ലിസ്റ്റില്‍ ചേര്‍ക്കുവാനുള്ള സംവിധാനം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കണമെന്നു എല്ലപ്രവാസികള്‍ക്കും വേണ്ടി അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

Dear Sir,
We are happy to know that the Election Commission is preparing the system and procedure to enter the names of non resident Indians(NRIs) in the voters’ list beginning with Kerala Niyama Sabha election.
Presently there are certain specific time to enter the name in the voters’ list so the NRIs who are present that time only could add their name in the voters’ list.
NRIs are visiting India when ever they have holiday, under the present condition many NRIs could not add name in voters’ list.
Only solution is to a have centre and facility which will work all working days of the year in all taluk head quarter to add the names of NRIs who are on vacation in India. If we have a such facility, then all NRIs will get the benefit of voting right for NRIs.
On behalf of all NRIs in all over the world, we request the Election Commission to consider our suggestion.
